Cursor usage flows now into Port’s context lake

You can now sync Cursor usage data into Port’s Context Lake and view it next to the engineering context you already manage in Port: teams, services, ownership, scorecards, workflows, and delivery data.

With Cursor data in Port, platform teams and engineering leaders can move from usage reporting to follow-up, governance, and workflows based on the context already in Port.

Why we built it

AI coding tools changed the usual measurement pattern. One system shows who changed the code. Another shows what shipped. Another shows AI usage, model activity, acceptance rates, and cost. The problem is that this data often lives across different systems, owned by different teams, without shared context.

To understand whether AI investment is actually working, teams need this data in one place, connected to the same services, teams, and ownership model as the rest of their engineering data.

What you can do with it

Once Cursor usage lands in Port, it stops being a standalone metric and joins everything else you track about your engineering org. That opens up three things: seeing where adoption stands, governing what you’re paying for, and acting when the numbers move.

Connect Cursor usage to engineering context

See where Cursor is being used, where adoption is still early, and whether usage is concentrated in a few teams or spreading across the organization.

You can also compare Cursor usage with the context already in Port, including service ownership, delivery trends, reliability, quality, and operational work.

Govern licenses and spend

Cursor seats cost money, and paid seats are not always active seats.

In Port, you can track usage by team, flag inactive seats, and use scorecards to define the thresholds that matter to your organization.

For example, you can surface teams with paid seats but low usage, then route a follow-up task to the right team owner.

Turn Cursor and engineering context into action

Cursor data becomes more useful when it leads to action.

When usage drops, Port can trigger a workflow to review license allocation. When usage grows in a team that owns critical services, Port can help connect that activity to delivery, reliability, and quality data already in the catalog.

Enable the Cursor integration in Port to sync Cursor usage data into Port’s Context Lake.

From there, you can use Port AI to explore adoption patterns, build dashboards, define scorecards, and trigger workflows based on the engineering context already modeled in Port.
